Bob's Journey

"The swelling was getting to the point I could not wear shoes at times, but now - wow – legs!"

Prior to walking into Kansas Surgical Arts for his appointment with Dr. Oberhelman, Bob (who was recently retired from the military) had seen 20 doctors and specialists in two different states about his swollen legs and ankles. This included three Family Practice doctors, two Orthopedic, three Internal Medicine, five Urologists, one Colon and Rectal, two Cardiologists, one Nephrologist, one Endocrinology/Metabolism, one Gastroenterologist and one Phlebotomist. He also underwent 11 acupuncture treatments, took multiple medications and endured various other testing. Walking away with a clean bill of health, Bob was still plagued with uncomfortable swelling. He did not take away anything negative from these doctors – but no one could solve the swelling.

His journey to find out why his legs and ankles were always swollen came full-circle after 26 years; when he had his vein procedure with the 21st doctor he had seen, Dr. Oberhelman. Right away, she noticed the venous insufficiency in his legs and had a solution to tame Bob's saphenous veins, "98% of my swelling had gone down after my surgery."

In the fourteen months since his procedure, Bob’s life was returning to normal. Bob is now able to wear ankle socks that do not leave a mark on his skin. He is also able to comfortably wear shoes, allowing him to return to his daily activities. Bob is very thankful the procedure Dr. Stephanie Oberhelman performed was successful and willingly shares that his life is forever changed.

"She changed my life," stated Bob. "I still cannot believe there were legs inside of all of that swelling."
