Should you consider a Facelift?
This is an individual question that only you can answer. There are many approaches to the aging face and surgery is just one. Only a surgeon with extensive experience in evaluating the aesthetic face as a unit can advise what options are best suited for your needs. A combination of products and procedures may be appropriate to address fine lines, sagging skin and poorly defined features. A combination of skin care, laser treatments, neuromodulators such as Botox or filling products like Juvederm and Restalyne and surgery (rhytidectomy) are all options.
Most importantly, your expectations must be realistic. As we age we loose soft tissue, such as fat, and even bone, causing the skin to sag. When this occurs we notice more lines and folds. My philosophy is to make subtle but long lasting corrections to help you achieve the best results. The goal is for you to look more refreshed and youthful.
Scars with any surgery are inevitable, however, with advanced techniques and careful planning, most scars can be well concealed or blended into natural folds of the skin. Although everytone heals differently, the appearance of scars improves over time.
Most of our patients experience very little “down-time.” The extent of recovery depends on the many factors including the type of surgery, your health and age at the time of surgery and your level of confidence in public with camouflage makeup. Most of our patient’s are ready to resume normal activities within 1 to 2 weeks.
Suprisingly, a facelift does not require much in the way of pain management.
